AP reports that three Russian journalists were injured when a missile hit near their car in Syria.

The Russian Defense Ministry says the journalists were travelling to Al-Dagmashliya, a village in a Syrian regime controlled province. They were transported to a hospital at a nearby Russian military base.

Russian journalists have been embedded with Syrian regime forces since the beginning of the conflict. Russia's government backs Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

Foreign journalists in Syria face significant dangers. Some journalists have been kidnapped, tortured, and beheaded by Daesh and other militant groups.

Last month, Russian airstrikes killed a Syrian journalist. Vesim el Adil, a frequent contributor to the Turkish Anadolu Agency, was struck by shrapnel and killed during a Russian airstrike in Idlib.
