ALBAWABA - Russia announced on Tuesday a three-day nuclear drill ahead of President Vladimir Putin's visit to China, AFP reported.

Russia's army on Tuesday began three days of nuclear weapons drills involving thousands of troops, a day after Ukraine carried out its largest drone attack on Moscow.

"From May 19 to 21, 2026, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation are conducting an exercise on the preparation and use of nuclear forces in the event of a threat of aggression," the defence ministry said.

President Putin is expected to hold a formal visit to Beijing and meet with his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping.
