ALBAWABA - The Russian Defense Ministry announced on Monday that it had shot down 251 Ukrainian drones overnight, while the governor of Belgorod said that Ukrainian shelling had damaged electricity infrastructure and left thousands without power.

"Last night, air defense systems intercepted and destroyed 251 Ukrainian drones," the ministry wrote on Telegram, in one of the largest Ukrainian attacks since the start of the Russian war on Ukraine more than three years ago.

The Russian Defense Ministry indicated that its forces shot down 40 drones over Crimea and dozens more over the Kursk and Belgorod regions, among other regions, according to the ministry.

On the other hand, Belgorod Regional Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said on Monday that Ukrainian shelling overnight in the region had damaged the region's electricity infrastructure and led to power outages for thousands of customers.
