ALBAWABA - Belgorod Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov announced on Wednesday that a drone attack by Ukraine killed a child and his mother.

He wrote on Telegram: "The most terrible thing happened as a result of a drone attack on a residential house -- a two-year-old child and his mother were killed."

Ukraine further said on Wednesday that it has successfully targeted an oil refinery in the Russian town of Kstovo.

Ukrainian general staff revealed that the military had hit an oil refinery in the town of Kstovo in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

Nonetheless, Russia responded to the attack by saying that several drones targeted civilian infrastructure in Smolensk Region, regional Governor Vasily Anokhin said.

He added on Wednesday that more than one unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) was reportedly destroyed near a nuclear power facility.

RT revealed citing the regional governor: "According to preliminary information, one of the drones was shot down during an attempted attack on a nuclear power facility."

He further noted that no casualties or damage were immediately marked in the Ukrainian attack, however, he called on people not to panic and to avoid open spaces.

Ukraine media reported that Kyiv launched a series of drone attacks targeting oil and power facilities in many areas in Russia overnight on Jan. 29.
