Pro and anti-Syrian regime forces have halted offensives and agreed to a cease-fire starting Sunday in the town of Zabadani near the Lebanese border and two Idlib villages, Al-Manar TV reported.
The Hezbollah-run station said the ceasefire, which will go into effect at noon, will cover the two Shiite villages of Foua and Kefraya in the northwestern Idlib province, as well as Zabadani and the adjacent village of Madaya.
The cease-fire comes 21 days after the collapse of another temporary truce between Hezbollah and the Syrian army, who have tightened the noose around rebels in Zabadani, and anti-regime forces who are on the offensive in Idlib.
The two sides traded blame for the collapse of the previous truce, which was brokered by Iran, President Bashar Assad’s main sponsor, and Turkey, which openly backs Syrian rebels.
