ALBAWABA - The Lebanese judiciary agreed on Tuesday to release Riad Salameh, the former Central Bank chief, from jail on bail, AFP confirmed, citing a judicial source.

The source said that after about one year in detention on embezzlement charges, Riad Salameh will be freed, AFP added.

"The indictment panel, headed by Judge Nassib Elia, agreed to release Riad Salameh on bail of $20 million and 5 billion Lebanese pounds, and to ban him from travel for a year starting from the date of implementation of this decision," the source revealed, noting that "his release is contingent upon payment of the bail."
