The British news agency Reuters confirmed Tuesday that two of its journalists, Australian cameraman Harry Burton and Afghan-born photographer Azizullah Haidari, had been killed in an ambush in Afghanistan.
"We received confirmation 20 minutes ago," editor-in-chief Geert Linnebank told AFP. "The bodies have been identified as Harry Burton and Azizullah Haidari."
Four journalists and a Pashtun translator were killed when gunmen ambushed their convoy on the road between Jalalabad in eastern Afghanistan and the capital Kabul early Monday.
The other journalists were Julio Fuentes of the Spanish daily El Mundo, and Maria Grazia Cutuli of Italy's Corriere della Sera – London (AFP)
