Around 100 Iranian workers have been trapped for several days following the collapse of an underground water channel in the center of the country, press reports said Thursday.

They said the workers were trapped in the tunnel when a section of some 70 meters collapsed.

The nine-kilometer tunnel is part of a canal channeling water from the Dez river to the central province of Qom.

Rescue work was still underway, one report said. (Albawaba.com)
