Yemeni peacekeeping forces are ready to join the international forces mission in Iraq, a press report said on Sunday.

The Yemen Observer weekly quoted the a military source as saying that the Yemeni peacekeeping forces are ready and "only waiting for a U.N. resolution requesting the international community to send their troops to Iraq."

The source said those units are currently in Africa, waiting for the green light to go to Iraq.

"Troops involved in this mission have been skillfully trained in Yemen with standard UN peacekeeping strategies and given language courses," said the source, who asked anonymity.
