The head of Libya's intelligence service was holding talks in London Thursday with senior MI6 and CIA officers to resolve a dispute over who will dismantle Libya's weapons of mass destruction.
According to the London-based Telegraph daily, one senior western diplomatic source said the meeting with Musa Kusa would be a decisive occasion.
"The meeting will show how serious the Libyans are," he said. "The real issue is whether the Libyans are prepared to have the kind of inspection regime that the US and Britain think is needed to ensure the lifting of US sanctions and the resumption of diplomatic relations between Washington and Tripoli."
According to senior western diplomatic sources, Libya wants the United Nations to take the lead but Washington wants experts from America and Britain to be in charge, the British newspaper added. (Albawaba.com)
