The Lebanese authorities deleted a reference to Israel in the Bible during the opening of the Baalbek Festival, the Beirut paper a-Nahar reported, quoted by The Jerusalem Post Tuesday.
The passage was from the "Song of Songs" and was supposed to be sung as part of a performance that opened the annual music festival.
"This is a universal, renowned love poem. King Solomon, who wrote the poem, is one of the Quran's prophets," the paper's cultural editor wrote.
The passage refers to the "mighty sons of Israel... all experts in war."
The decision to "censor" the Bible was taken after Muslim fundamental members of parliament raised questions about it, said the report – Albawaba.com.
