Iran is preparing another launch of the Shihab-3 intermediate-range missile, reported Middle East News Line (MENL), quoting a report by the Washington Times newspaper.
The Washington Times said on Friday that the test is expected to take place by the end of the month.
It added that the test was postponed from its original launch date of last week to avoid embarrassing Iranian President Mohammed Khatami during his visit this week to the United Nations.
The last test of the Shihab-3 was in July, said the (MENL), adding that the missile has a range of 1,300 kilometers.
The Shihab-3 is regarded as a North Korean No-Dong missile modified by Russian contractors.
Iran has purchased 12 engines for the Shihab-3 missiles in what US officials said are plans to establish a production line by next year, said the MENL.
US officials said Iran is also set on completing the Shihab-4 and Shihab-5 missiles, with ranges of 2,400 and 5,500 kilometers, respectively – Albawaba.com
