Britain's Guardian newspaper is reporting that at least 136 people have been killed in clashes in Egypt.
The newspaper reported that the dead were supporters of ousted president Mohamed Morsi, and cited the Muslim Brotherhood as its source for the figure. The report said security troops had opened fire on a sit-in on Saturday morning.
Reuters reported a death toll of at least 70. The agency said its staff had seen 36 corpses at an impromptu morgue, and said shooting could be heard for hours after the violence erupted.
