The most significant families from across the Middle East will be attending the sixth annual Middle East Families in Business Conference on 16 & 17 May 2010 at The Sharq Village & Spa in Doha.  Attended by over 100 VIPs from across the region this private conference themed ‘Family unity through trust and values’, will illuminate the needs of families to go back to their roots to understand core values to help them sustain themselves over generations.
Chaired by Khalid Ahmed Al Mannai a second generation family member of the Mannai Corporation and Peter Leach a founding father of family business thinking in the UK, this prestigious networking event will give ultra-high net-worth families the opportunity to meet with and learn from other like-minded families in the region.
Despite the financial climate, families with a strong backbone of unity, values and trust within the family group have successfully navigated their way through this difficult time.  The conference will empower families and peers in the region to survive this tough period by careful restructuring, strengthened governance systems, transparent wealth and investment planning and effective succession to maintain harmony that lasts through the generations.
Mohammed A.J. Al Fahim, former CEO and honorary chairman of the Al Fahim Group in the UAE, will present the first of two keynote sessions on day one focusing on maintaining family harmony and leadership.  This insightful and thought provoking session will talk about the passionate view of this second generation family leader, winner of the “Arab Business Excellence Award” in 2007, looking at how the family stays united through crises and lessons for families today.
The second  keynote session presented by Khalid Abdullah Al Zamil, managing director and corporate strategic planning at the Zamil Group in Saudi Arabia, will talk about how his family group has led the way in the organisation of family governance for sustainability of their business and future generations.
Other key participants include: Haitham Al-Foraih, vice president at Amwal Al-Khaleej and third generation member of the Al Muhaidib family in Saudi Arabia; Hassan Daaboul, second generation member of Daaboul Industrial Group in Syria; Sarah Hashwani, second generation member of the Hashoo Group from Pakistan; Anne Lee, third generation member of a textile family business in Singapore and UAE based speakers including: Constantin Salameh, CEO of the Al Masaood Group of Private Companies; Dr. Nasrin Shah Abushakra, CEO of Al Wassla; Nadia Zaal, co-founder and CEO of Zaya and Walid Chiniara, one of the region’s leading family business advisors.
An evening reception will be held on the evening of the first day at the eastern courtyard of The Museum of Islamic Art, housing a magnificent collection of artworks dating from the 7th to the 19th century, where delegates and speakers can mingle and share their thoughts and experiences on the day’s proceedings.
This unprecedented opportunity for peer networking will return to Qatar for the second time, and will further uphold its coveted position as the most important gathering of the year for family business owners in the region.
