At least 20 people were killed in Syrian regime airstrikes Thursday in Aleppo, an opposition group said.

The Syrian Revolution General Commission said in a statement that the regime launched barrel bomb attacks on a number of towns and villages controlled by the opposition.

Scores of people were injured in the attacks.

The Istanbul-based Syrian Revolution General Commission is a coalition of Syrian political and media groups opposed to the Assad regime.

The Syrian civil war, which is in its fifth year, has seen more than 220,000 people killed and millions displaced.
