Up to 45 civilians died when Syrian regime gunship helicopters dropped explosive-laden barrels on the northern city Aleppo on Saturday, according to the Syrian opposition media.
Two explosive barrels fell on a popular bazaar in the city's northeastern sector, patrolled by the mainstream opposition movement, the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant. The fiery blasts resulted in death of 45 people and injury of scores others.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said scores of civilians died in aerial bombing targeting the ISIL-controlled Medinat Al-Bab on northeastern outskirts of Aleppo, the country's second largest city.
In Damascus, six pro-government gunmen died and 10 others were wounded in an explosion targeting an assembly of the paramilitary squads. In Ras Al-Ain, Al-Hasaka northeast of Syria, Kurdish militiamen killed 50 Arabs, according to the monitor, without revealing circumstances about the incident. However, it indicated that it coincided with ISIL's advance in the ground.
In Homs, ISIL's gunmen blew up a gas pipeline on the Homs-Tadmor road.
