At least 12 civilians, including four children and a pregnant woman, were killed and dozens wounded Wednesday after the Syrian regime conducted airstrikes on a Daesh-held village in the Aleppo province, AFP reported.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the air force dropped barrel bombs on the village of Qasr el-Breij, which is currently a stronghold for Daesh (ISIS).
Observatory Director Rami Abdel-Rahman said the government was "trying to distance the jihadist threat from sectors of Aleppo province held by the army."
President Bashar al-Assad has denied his use of barrel bombs on civilians, despite several testimonies that confirm it.
