Recycling Middle East set to address and provide solutions for region’s waste disposable issues

His Excellency Hussain Nasser Lootah, Acting Director General, Dubai Municipality, is set to officiate the region’s leading recycling conference, Recycling Middle East, which will be held at the Al Murooj Rotana Hotel & Suites, Dubai from 5 to 6 March 2008.

Organised by MP International FZ LLC, Recycling Middle East will showcase the latest trends and technology in global recycling as well as current Middle East recycling practices and environmental protection programs.

MP International Conference Director Tony Chan said, “The quantity of general waste generated from Dubai in 2007 was more than 3.5 million tonnes, and this figure is expected to rise over the years. As such, we are pleased that HE Lootah will address this issue and share how the city plans to reduce general waste in the Emirate.”
His Excellency Hussain Nasser Lootah is expected to speak on the various measures undertaken by Dubai Municipality in greening the environment and recycling waste produce. Amongst initiatives already in place is the new law on green construction and the formation of the Emirates Green Building Council, which will lead to more eco-friendly buildings and offices in the near future.

The Recycling Middle East conference is endorsed by Dubai Municipality and supported by Paper Industry Research Association (PIRA). Discussions will cover a variety of topics on global and Middle East recycle strategies, new technologies in paper making, collection, disposal & security, financial implications, world trade & global sourcing as well as sustainable development.

An international panel of recycling industry veterans, complemented by experts in Middle East who will provide local perspectives, will converge to exchange ideas and share challenges on sustainable waste management.

Among the distinguished speakers is Marco Mensink, Energy & Environment Director of CEPI – Conference of European Paper Industries, who will share his views on “Carbon Systems & Sustainable Management at the two day conference. Dr Graham Moore, Strategic Consultant, PIRA, UK will provide insights into ‘The Global Perspective on Recycling’.

The conference will also feature over 20 international speakers, including:
