ALBAWABA- In a major drug bust, Dubai authorities have confiscated a staggering 13 tons of Captagon pills cleverly concealed amidst furniture shipments. This seizure, valued at more than $1 billion on the market, has led to the arrest of six individuals with potential connections to the illicit drug trade.
Dubai, UAE - Dubai law enforcement officials have successfully intercepted a colossal shipment of Captagon narcotic pills, weighing a staggering 13 tons. The pills, with an estimated street value of over $1 billion, were ingeniously hidden within furniture cargo. The breakthrough discovery followed a meticulous examination of a suspicious shipping container.

In a video released by the Dubai Police, officers can be seen meticulously dismantling panels and doors to unveil a shocking 86 million Captagon pills concealed within. Captagon, often referred to as the "poor man's cocaine," remains alarmingly prevalent among the youth in Gulf nations. Although the UAE authorities have yet to disclose the pills' precise origin, there is a widely held belief that significant Captagon production occurs in Syria. It's worth noting that escalating poverty has reportedly driven countless ordinary Syrians to partake in the lucrative multibillion-dollar Captagon trade. Despite the Syrian government's consistent denial, persistent reports have linked influential business figures and powerful military figures to the manufacturing and distribution of Captagon.

Discovery in Five Separate Containers: Six Detained
The Dubai Police have revealed that the massive Captagon haul was spread across five different shipping containers. General Eid Mohammed Thani Hareb, Director-General of the Narcotics Department within the Dubai Police, disclosed that an international criminal syndicate meticulously concealed the narcotics within these containers with the intent to smuggle them into the UAE, later transshipping them to an unknown destination. The operation culminated in the apprehension of six individuals believed to have vital roles in this illegal trade. This unprecedented Captagon seizure ranks among the largest in recent history.
This discovery echoes previous cases where sizable Captagon busts have been made globally. Notably, Italy witnessed a significant seizure of 14 tons of Captagon pills in 2020, while just last year, Saudi Arabian authorities unearthed a staggering 46 million Captagon pills cunningly concealed within a shipment of wheat.
