Shelling by Houthi rebels on Thursday targeted the airport in Yemen’s southern city of Aden, killing at least three pro-Hadi fighters, AP reported.

A government official speaking with AP said the rebels fired Katyusha rockets that landed in the vicinity of the airport early Thursday, killing at least three anti-rebel fighters.

He said Saudi-backed Yemeni troops had also pushed Shiite rebels out of several neighborhoods in the city, including the Crater neighborhood which houses a presidential palace. Troops were patrolling the streets of the neighborhood, ensuring it was cleared of rebels, he told AP.

Pro-Hadi fighters pushed the Houthis out of Aden airport Tuesday in the outset of an offensive that has been more than a month in planning, the official told AP.
