Death toll from an explosion in Iraq’s western city of Ramadi has risen to at least 37 with official sources saying that 22 security forces were among the victims.
The sources said the attacker on Sunday rammed an explosives-laden military vehicle into a construction site that was used as a base by security forces.
Islamic State (IS) militants control major areas in Ramadi, which is the capital of Anbar Province.
The latest attack comes as Iraqi security forces, backed by Kurdish Peshmerga fighters, have managed to break the IS’s month-long siege of the northern town of Amerli.
Thousands of people were trapped in Amerli, where the residents are facing a shortage of food and water. The humanitarian condition has been also described as dire by witnesses.
IS terrorists have threatened all communities, including Shias, Sunnis, Kurds, Christians, Yazidi Kurds and others as they continue their advances in Iraq.
