RAK FTZ delegation attends prestigious trade events in Germany
Ras Al Khaimah Free Trade Zone (RAK FTZ) was centre-stage recently at two of the most prestigious trade events in Germany: the 12th German-Arab Business Forum in Berlin and the RAK FTZ sponsored Ost Westfalen-Lippe (OWL) Meets UAE event in Bielefeld.
With the goal to further strengthen and expand trade and cultural ties between Germany and Ras Al Khaimah, RAK FTZ CEO, Oussama El Omari, sent a strong business delegation to both of the events.
The delegation was headed by Maryam Al Murshedi Al Shehhi, Deputy Director General of RAK FTZ, who participated as a main guest speaker in both events. Other speakers at the OWL Meets UAE event included His Excellency Klaus-Peter Brandes, German Ambassador in the UAE; Dr. Jens Baganz, Secretary of State in the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy in North Rhine Westphalia; and Dr. Peter Göpfrich, CEO of the German-Emirati Joint Council for Industry and Commerce, UAE.
Al Shehhi spoke about the importance of globalisation and the need to strengthen each country’s economy. “Exploring new markets is a vital component of any company’s growth,” Al Shehhi shared. “It is just as important as maintaining progress and development in markets that you have already tapped. Ras Al Khaimah and Germany have shared long and fruitful trade relations, but we are here to take this one step further.”
The 12th German-Arab Business Forum in Berlin was attended by more than 700 businessmen, entrepreneurs, economists and politicians. It was an ideal opportunity to widen the RAK FTZ network and to introduce German companies to the possibility of going global through a seamless integration with the free zone.
Attendees were also introduced to the RAK FTZ liaison office in Cologne, where they can get more information or start the process of opening their regional office in the Middle East. Al Shehhi was at the front line providing the necessary information about RAK FTZ – especially its industrial, technology and educational parks.
“We are very happy to support our German colleagues to increase awareness about business and trade, and product expansion in RAK,” says Al Shehhi. “RAK FTZ has an active presence in the German market. Our German counterparts can always be confident that we are here to assist them. We are here to assist, support and guide them through a wider and more rewarding future of global expansion.”
