Palestinian rocket attacks and Israeli airstrikes continued for the third consecutive day Friday in Gaza despite the visit of the Egyptian Prime Minister. Israel had agreed, at the request of Cairo, to suspend its operations during the three hour visit of Hisham Kandil, provided that Palestinian gunfire is ceased.
Rockets fired from Gaza, however, fell Friday morning on the southern Israeli territory shortly after the arrival of the Egyptian leader. Meanwhile, two Palestinians were killed in an Israeli airstrike on the northern Gaza Strip during the visit, said Palestinian medical sources. A spokesman for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had earlier accused Hamas of not enforcing a temporary truce announced by Israel during the visit of the head of the Egyptian government.
Earlier, Israeli warplanes attacked the home of Hamas Prime Minister, Ismail Haniyyeh.
