Rabat will host on Wednesday the Arab-African forum on sexual exploitation of children, in partnership with the United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF).

A spokesman for UNICEF was quoted by Morocco’s official news agency (MAP) as saying “by hosting this conference, Morocco is producing evidence to its commitment to address an issue that has been for long considered as a taboo, setting thus an example for African and Arab countries.”

The three-day event is held under the patronage of Princess Lalla Meriem and chaired by the minister of women affairs, family and children protection.

The forum is held as a follow-up to the first congress held in Stockholm in 1996, which recommended countries to adopt national strategies to curb the phenomenon – Albawaba.com
