A correspondent for Syria’s state-run television station was killed on the outskirts of the central Syrian town of Qusair, SANA reported Monday.

“Colleague Yara Abbas, a correspondent at AlIkhbariya, was martyred after being shot by terrorists near Al-Dabaa airport on the outskirts of Qusair,” the state-run agency said.

Al-Ikhbariya TV said the Information Ministry the Union of Journalists had been added to the rank of "martyrs” after she was targeted by “terrorists” near the Al-Dabaa airport.

The term “terrorists” is used by the Syrian regime to describe rebels seeking to topple President Bashar Assad.
