An earthquake registering 4.4 on the Richter scale jolted western Japan Monday, the Meteorological Agency said, but there were no reports of casualties or damage to property.
The focus of the quake, which struck at 7:05 am (1005 GMT), was located 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) below the ground in Fukui prefecture, 400 kilometers (248 miles) west of Tokyo, the agency said, adding no tidal wave warning was issued -- TOKYO (AFP)
