Dialogue is the only path to reaching peace between Palestinians and Israelis, the Qatari Emir, Hamad Ben Khalifa Al-Thani said in Warsaw on Tuesday during his first official visit to Poland.
"There are no other paths than attempts at dialogue. We are open to all attempts to find a peaceful solution," he was quoted as saying by PAP news agency following a meeting with Polish President Aleksander Kwasniewski, cited by AFP
Meanwhile, Sheikh Hamad confirmed that the first legislative elections in his emirate could be held this year as part of the process of democratization currently underway.
He has ruled the Gulf monarchy, which is rich in oil and gas since the year 1995.
In the course of his two-day visit to Poland, Sheikh Hamad also plans to meet the head of the Catholic Church in Poland, Cardinal Jozef Glemp, and the head of the upper chamber of the Polish parliament, Longin Pastusiak.
Accompanied by businessman in addition to his foreign, finance and health ministers, Sheikh Hamad is scheduled to head for the Hungarian capital city of Budapest on Wednesday. (albawaba.com)
