The state-run Qatar gas company, Qatargas, signed on Monday two comprehensive contracts with the Spanish company GasNatural for the delivery of up to 12.6 million tons of liquefied natural gas (LNG) between 2001 and 2012, reported the Gulf Times newspaper.
The first contract is for the delivery of 5.6 million tons of LNG between 2001 and 2009, while the other contract covers delivery of 3.5 million tons of LNG between 2002 and 2007, with an option for the same amount between 2007 and 2012.
"The contracts represent a major breakthrough for Qatargas as it has become a major LNG supplier for the European market in the medium term," an official said.
The LNG volumes specified in the two contracts would help meet the anticipated European gas requirements in the medium term, he added – Albawaba.com
