The first aircraft will join the Qatar Airways fleet later this month, the second in December, with a further four deliveries in April and December next year and July and August 2003.
The deal is structured as a finance lease, with the European Export Credit Agencies supporting 85 percent of the loan and the balance 15 percent being a commercial loan. The lending banks are Barclays Bank, Hypo Vereinsbank and Qatar National Bank.
The airline, according to the daily, has recently announced orders for five new Airbus A330-200s with an option on three further aircraft, as well as becoming a launch customer for the newly developed ultra-large Airbus A380.
From its hub in Doha, the airline now serves a total 28 destinations in Europe, Middle East, the Indian subcontinent and Asia. The airline operates six Airbus A300-600R aircraft on long and medium-haul routes and four Airbus A320s on short-haul services – Albawaba.com
