ALBAWABA - As Israel's offensive in Gaza captures global attention, the conflict in Ukraine enters its second year. In a surprising twist, the American New York Times alleges that Russian President Vladimir Putin is open to a ceasefire, conveyed through intermediaries.

Yet, a recent claim by the American New York Times suggests that Vladimir Putin may be exploring a ceasefire. Sources speaking to the newspaper indicate that Putin perceives a deadlock for both sides on the front lines. The diminished support from the West to Ukraine creates a potential scenario for negotiations.

Putin's Quest for a Ceasefire in Ukraine

Officials from the United States shared that Russia initially probed the possibility of a ceasefire agreement in the fall of 2022. They conveyed Putin's contentment with Russia's seized territories to Washington during that time. A former senior Russian official, in comments to the New York Times, revealed, "Putin genuinely desires to maintain current positions. However, he remains unwilling to retreat even by a meter."

Unveiling Putin's Ceasefire Consideration in Ukraine When approached by the New York Times, Kremlin Spokesperson Dimitri Peskov stated, "Putin is indeed ready for negotiations. He has affirmed this. Russia will sustain its readiness, particularly to achieve its objectives."

US officials emphasized in their conversations with the newspaper that Putin's stance has shifted recently. The Russian leader no longer insists on a change in the Zelensky government."
