Mozaic MyTones from Qtel enjoyed unprecedented success in 2009 with the introduction of its ‘Press * to Copy’ service. The new feature was only introduced in the last quarter of 2009 but resulted in over 300,000 purchases of ringtones.
The ‘Press * to Copy’ feature enables Qtel customers to copy other people’s ring-back tones by simply pressing a button. Once the tone is copied to a phone it can be programmed to be used for specific callers at particular times; played randomly or activated via a ‘shuffle mode’.
Using the copy function is very simple. When callers hear a tone they like, they simply press the * key on their handset to copy the tone to their own account. The caller will receive an SMS from the system, detailing the tone they’ve requested and asking them for confirmation. After confirmation, the tone becomes the default tone of their MyTones account.
Mozaic MyTones offers a wide selection of music, Islamic content, poetry and comedy for customers to select. In 2009 the most popular content copied was Bollywood and Islamic Tones.
The popularity of this feature has even led to the creation of a number of MyTones communities in Qatar with people ‘virally’ swapping and sharing the latest tones and jokes across the country.
Customers now have four choices of how they can purchase MyTones: by clicking on the MyTones section on www.mobile.mozaic.qa on their mobile to access the browser homepage; by simply typing wap.mozaic.qa; by sending an SMS with the relevant tone code directly to 92424; or by dialling the MyTones number 9002424 from their mobile.
MyTones is available for all Hala and Shahry mobile customers.
