UAE, 23rd February 2010: Dubai’s leading business couple and convener of the 2nd Vishwa Marathi Sahitya Sammelan Mr. Dhananjay Datar and Mrs Vandana Datar invited the President of India Mrs Pratibha Patil to attend the gala function to be held in Dubai. The 2nd Vishwa Marathi Sahitya Sammelan (or 2nd World Marathi Literature Forum) will be held in Dubai on 4th, 5th & 6th March, 2010 at the Rashid Auditorium, Indian High School in Bur Dubai.
The 1st World Marathi Literature Forum was organized in Milpitas California, during February 14-16, 2009. From USA the Forum has now moved to Dubai. The initiative in Dubai will bring together literature enthusiasts from all over the world including renowned poets, novelists, story writers, dramatists, musicians and film makers.
Mr. Dhananjay (fondly referred as Jay) Datar, who is a Marathi-speaking person himself, owns Al Adil Trading Group of Companies, which is the title sponsor of 2nd World Marathi Literature Forum. The event is organized by Maharashtra Mandal Dubai.

When the Datars met the President of India at the Rashtrapati Bhavan (President’s House), she expressed her appreciation of Al Adil Trading Group’s achievements in the UAE and congratulated the couple for setting up a huge business empire and spices industry in Dubai in the last 25 years because of which she said that all Indians are proud of him.
The President was pleased to hear that Mr. Datar had set up Al Adil Supermarkets, an ISO 9001 2000 company, one of the leading chains of specialty supermarkets in the UAE that operates 9 supermarkets. Al Adil Supermarkets primarily caters to the approximately 2.5 million South Asian expats in the UAE.
In each of its outlets, Al Adil Supermarkets sells more than 4000 food and household items, including food grains such as wheat, rice, corn, pearl millet (Bajra), jonnalu (Jowar), Indian spices, lentils, flour, oils, pickles, tea, coffee, canned and instant foods, ayurvedic herbs, cosmetics, dry fruits, sweetmeats, etc. Each outlet is designed as a specialty neighborhood retail outlet with space ranging between 1500 – 3000 sq.ft. The President advised Mr. Datar to set up similar business in India to which Mr. Datar agreed.
