Preparations are underway for hosting the meetings of World Bank Board of Governors and IMF in Dubai in 2003, reported the Gulf News on Sunday.
Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance, Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, emphasized the need to market the event.
“The governments of the UAE and Dubai are working together to ensure that these meetings will be amongst the most successful external meetings organized by the World Bank and IMF,” he was quoted as saying.
Around 20,000 people are expected to be involved.
"It is a huge opportunity. We need to ensure that correct messages go to the rest of the world. We will have the chance to correct negative stereotypes some people in the west hold about the Middle East," said Ibrahim Belselah, Dubai 2003 coordinator – Albawaba.com
