US Secretary of State Colin Powell is to arrive Thursday in Jordan ahead of a planned visit to Israel as part of his Middle East peace efforts, Jordanian Foreign Minister Marwan Moasher Wednesday told AFP.
"Mr. Powell is expected Thursday. He will use Jordan as a base and go from here" to Israel as part of the US administration's efforts to make progress in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, Moasher told AFP.
Powell, who will meet Moasher on Thursday, is expected Friday in Israel for talks with Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon. He is also expected to visit the Palestinian territories.
Palestinian information minister, Nabil Amr welcomed Powell's visit to the region. (Albawaba.com)
