For the first time in its history, Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart has chosen the Middle East region to stage an international press launch of a new model. At the centre of attention in Dubai, is the new 521 horsepower top-of-the range Cayenne Turbo S, which promises an amazing blend of power and versatility never before witnessed in its segment. The car will be available in dealerships throughout the region as of March 2006.
Speaking at the event, Deesch Papke, Managing Director of Porsche Middle East and Africa, said: “The highly developed local infrastructure as well as the presence of the Porsche Middle East & Africa subsidiary, enabled our region to proudly host this prestigious event. This step shows the importance of the region to Porsche AG, and reflects the loyalty of our customers.”
Dubai was the natural choice for Porsche AG as an international launch platform for this car, and the reasons go well beyond the importance of the market for Porsche. With its moderate climate at this time of the year, and the abundance of sand dunes in its magnificent desert, Dubai presents the perfect venue to showcase the versatile capabilities of the car and also boasts world-class facilities coupled with the expertise to host international events.
While elaborating on the business case of the Cayenne Turbo S, Michael Baumann, Head of International Press in Porsche AG, said: “In many markets, the Cayenne S and Turbo are among the best-selling Sports Utility Vehicles with eight-cylinder gasoline engines. Our SUV line-up shows outstanding growth particularly in export markets where Porsche has not been represented that strongly in the past. Thanks to the Turbo S, we will continue to enjoy very good sales and by doing so confirm the popularity and potential of this outstanding vehicle range."
The “basic" 4.5-litre V8 bi-turbo engine featured in the new top-of-the-range Cayenne remains un¬changed in principle. However, several upgrades serve to boost both engine out¬put and torque to 521 horsepower and 720 Newton-metres respectively. As a result, acceleration time to 100 km/h has dropped to a staggering 5.2 seconds while top speed crept to a commanding 270 km/h. To match the superior performance, Cayenne Turbo S comes with impressive twenty-inch lightweight aluminium wheels, in addition to a fully-controlled self-levelling and active damper system as standard. Full time four-wheel drive is managed electronically by Porsche Traction Management PTM, which varies the distribution of engine power among the wheels for better driving dynamics.
Klaus-Gerhard Wolpert, Director Product Line Cayenne and Member of the board in Porsche Middle East and Africa, sums up the car’s capabilities: “When the challenges vary from climbing to the top a high sand dune or to exhibiting the ultimate in sporting performance on the road, Cayenne Turbo S is the car to have. With over 520 horsepower on tap and the latest in chassis technology and electronics, Porsche’s second most powerful car after the Carrera GT, will shift up a gear where others tend to fall back and remain in motion where others come to a standstill. In everyday terms, this is the car that does it all.”
Once again, it is another first for Porsche Middle East & Africa. But most notably, it is a splendid first for both Porsche AG and Dubai. And the jewel of the crown is the second most powerful road car ever built by Porsche after the Carrera GT, the sensational Cayenne Turbo S.
The basic retail price for the Cayenne Turbo S in the GCC markets is 120,381 US Dollars. For other markets within our region, the retail price will vary depending on local market taxation and value added tax and will be available as of March 2006
