Three children were killed Tuesday when Indian troops shelled a village school on the Pakistani side of the disputed border in Kashmir, police officials said.
A high school in Seri village in the district of Kotli, southern Kashmir, was hit in the attack, police said.
Two girls and a boy, all below the age of 12, were killed, a police official said.
A 15-year old girl was also injured in the attack, he said.
Pakistan last week accused India of escalating tensions along the Line of Control (LoC) which divides the Himalyan region of Kashmir between Pakistan and India.
Earlier, state media quoted a military commander in the Pakistani zone of Kashmir as saying that Indian firing and shelling had killed 175 civilians and wounded 722 this year.
India accuses Pakistan of infiltrating armed militants into its only Muslim majority state of Kashmir where a separatist drive has left more than 34,000 people dead since its eruption in 1989. Islamabad denies the charge.
Clashes and artillery exchanges between the rival troops routinely occur along the tense de facto border in Kashmir.
Pakistan holds the northern third of Kashmir while the remainder of the predominantly Muslim Himalayan state is under Indian control.
