ALBAWABA - Russian media revealed on Thursday that an "An-24" passenger plane went missing during a trip over Amur Region.
The governor of the Far Eastern Russian region, Vasily Orlov, confirmed the news, saying that the aircraft was carrying 49 passengers when it went missing from the map and lost contact with air traffic controllers.
Orlov detailed that the plane was travelling with 43 passengers, including five children, from Blagoveshchensk to Tynda, a flight of roughly 570 km. In addition, four crew members were aboard.
Russian emergency services said before reaching its destination, the plane went off radar, and rescue members are carrying out a search operation in the area.
