The second photojournalist in a month to be killed in Libya, Abdelqadir Fassouk, was shot by Daesh fighters while covering clashes in the coastal city of Sirte, The Guardian reported.

The 28-year-old correspondent for Arraed television was filming a young fighter when he was shot in the head from Daesh positions. He was killed instantly.

In June, freelancer Khaled al-Zintani was also shot while on assignment.

Just a day before his death, Fassouk had complained to the Libyan Center for Freedom of the Press that journalists covering the conflict lacked adequate safety gear.

This was not Fassouk's first time facing danger on the front lines. When covering the 2012 Libyan elections, he was shot in the neck and kidnapped.

Sirte has become the center of intense fighting as government troops try to wrest back control of the city from Daesh, which took control last year.

The Committee to Protect Journalists said the journalist's death was “a reminder of the terrible price that journalists in Libya are paying to do their jobs.”
