iGoogle now available in Arabic and English across
Middle East and North Africa
Starting this month, Arabic-language web surfers will be able to customize their Google™ homepage with information and applications from over 10,000 sources around the world.
From news and videos to to-do lists and games, iGoogle™ gives users immediate access to the information they most care about – all on a single page. The personalized homepage's innovative design enables users to drag and drop "sections"
in order to arrange the page as they want. Once they've created their personalized homepage, they view it by signing in to their Google Account from any computer. There's also a convenient link back to the "classic" Google homepage.
Users can also choose from several playful designs (called “themes”) to decorate their page. The themes include various artistic and whimsical designs such as a beach, a Japanese-inspired teahouse, a cityscape, and a bus stop. Each theme changes depending on the user’s time of day or local weather condition, and users can easily change their theme selection at any time. So when the sun sets in a user’s neighbourhood, it also sets on the user’s iGoogle page.
”Google users have told us they'd like a way to view more of the
information they want in a single place. The personalized homepage is
the first of a number of approaches we're exploring to make personalized
information more accessible and useful,” said Yasmina Brihi, Country Marketing Manager, Middle East North Africa.
Creating a personalized homepage is easy with iGoogle, and is available by going to the upper left hand corner of your local Google homepage and clicking ‘more’ then on the iGoogle link.
