Panasonic Launch Two New Full-HD Camcorders Targeted to the budding videographers

Panasonic will be launching two new Full-HD Camcorders aimed at ambitious amateur videographers. The SD100 and HS100 both feature Panasonic’s innovative 3MOS system and a range of manual functions that give users the power to create dramatic, artistic images.

Both cameras feature a new 12x zoom Leica Dicomar lens system, which prevents colour bleeding and enables crisp, clear, free of flare footage.

Panasonic Marketing Middle East Product Manager Yasuo Kimoto says that both camcorders give users the image quality they expect by using the advanced AVCHD video format to record 1920 x 1080 images in breathtaking full-HD quality.

“The SD100 is highly resistant to impact because it records onto SD or SDHC memory cards and thus has no moving mechanism. This plus the compact size make the SD100 ideal for casual, walk-about shooting fun,” he said. “As a hybrid model, the HS100 records full-HD images onto either an SD (or SDHC) Memory Card, or the built-in 60-GB hard disk with the ability to copy clips from the hard disk to the SD Memory Card and vice versa.”

“By incorporating the new manual ring, users have full creative freedom and can enjoy precise, responsive fingertip control over five key settings -- zoom, focus, iris, shutter speed, and white balance,” Kimoto added.

The two cameras also feature a world first, the implementation of Panasonic’s iA (intelligent Auto) technology in a camcorder. iA automatically activates several convenient shooting functions at once. These include Advanced O.I.S., which compensates for hand-shake to eliminate blurring; Face Detection, which adjusts the exposure so faces are captured perfectly; and Intelligent Contrast Control, which helps ensure proper contrast. Also included is the Intelligent Scene Selector, which determines the shooting conditions and automatically selects the Scene setting which will provide optimal results.

Other features available in the two camcorders include quick power-on, 5.1 channel surround sound system, mic input and headphone jack, as well as digital cinema mode.

“Panasonic always strives to incorporate future technology into its products to achieve high levels of customer satisfaction and be their preferred brand,” Kimoto concluded.

The SD100 and HS100 come packaged with software that makes it easy to edit the full-HD recorded images. Using HD Writer 2.6 software together with the camcorder's Intelligent Shooting Selection Playback function, scenes determined to be seriously flawed are automatically extracted. HD Writer 2.6 also lets the user specify which image files are uploaded to the PC and even remembers which image files have been uploaded to the PC, so there is no worry about uploading the same file again later.
