ALBAWABA - Palestinians in Ramallah took to the streets to protest US Secretary of State Antony Blinken's visit to West Bank amid his Middle East tour.

The US Secretary of State arrived to the West Bank on Wednesday for an official visit during which he is expected to meet Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and discuss the war in Gaza.

Blinken's visit comes as the UN Security Council is expected to vote on a US-proposed resolution that would condemn attacks by Yemen’s Houthi on merchant and commercial vessels in the Red Sea area.

Protests in Ramallah shouted slogans against Blinken's visit and in support of Palestine's freedom from Israeli occupation.

Palestinians were heard saying: "Palestine is free, Blinken go out."

Before meeting Abbas in the West Bank for diplomatic talks, Blinken was in a meeting with Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Tel Aviv amid a surge in the civilian death toll in Gaza by Israeli attacks.

The US Secretary of State conducted a tour across the Middle East and visited multiple Arab countries including Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Turkey.
