A Palestinian official denied Tuesday Israeli radio reports that Palestinian President Yasser Arafat had been barred by Israel from travelling from the West Bank to Gaza.
"It is not true at all. We did not ask to fly, and the president is not travelling anyway," the Palestinian official told AFP, adding "unless this means they are preparing to ban him from flying."
Israel Radio had reported that Israel rejected a request by Arafat to fly from the West Bank city of Ramallah to the Gaza Strip in his personal plane.
Israeli officials were quoted as saying that “Arafat will be confined to Ramallah until he begins battling the terror infrastructure in the areas under his control.”
Other measures taken by Israeli following the suicide bombing were a total closure on the Palestinian territories, closing the Gaza Airport and cutting fuel to Gaza – Albawaba.com
