Two Palestinians have been injured Friday near Bab-el-Asbat and Bab el-Amoud in east Jerusalem as Israeli troops prevented scores of Palestinians to enter Al-Aqsa Mosque for Friday prayers, reported Al-Jazira TV channel.

It added that the injured were transferred to Maqased hospital in Jerusalem for medical treatment.

AFP reported that the Israeli police were stopping men aged under 45 from entering Jerusalem's mosque compound where thousands of Muslims were gathering for Friday prayers.

"Men of under 45 are not authorized to ender the compound this Friday," a police spokesman said.

He said police had "deployed in force" in Jerusalem's Old City, particularly around al-Aqsa Mosque compound in occupied east Jerusalem, said the agency.

Israeli security forces were also enforcing a strict blockade of the Palestinian territories following Thursday's violence, which brought the two sides to the brink of open war, added AFP - (Several Sources)
