A Palestinian teenager was shot dead Friday by Israeli soldiers during clashes between stone-throwers and the army in the northern Gaza Strip, Palestinian hospital sources said.
Ramzi Khalil Hassuna, 17, was shot in the chest, and four other Palestinians injured in the clashes, which broke out near the Karni crossing point between Israel and the Gaza Strip, the sources said.
His death brings to 803 the total number of people killed since the start of the Palestinian intifada, or uprising, nearly a year ago, including 615 Palestinians and 165 Israelis.
Also in the Gaza Strip, two Israeli border guards were lightly wounded by a Palestinian grenade attack in an industrial area near Erez, the northern crossing point into Israel, an Israeli military spokesman said.
Palestinians fired two mortar bombs on an Israeli position south of the Gush Katif settlement bloc in the Gaza Strip, a military spokesman said.
Israeli soldiers also wounded two Palestinians with rubber bullets during clashes with protestors in the el-Bireh neighboring Ramallah, in the West Bank, Palestinian hospital sources said.
The protestors had been shouting slogans denouncing Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon as a "war criminal," and his chief-of-staff General Shaul Mofaz as a "terrorist," according to an AFP correspondent.
Overnight Friday, another two Palestinians were injured by shrapnel from Israeli tank shells in the Dheisha refuge camp near Bethlehem in the West Bank, Palestinian hospital sources said.
The army had earlier reported shooting in the area, as well as seven other armed attacks in the West Bank.
The Israeli army reported nine other attacks against military positions or Jewish settlements in the Gaza Strip overnight, causing no injuries -- GAZA CITY (AFP)
