ALBAWABA - A Palestinian source told Al Arabiya and Al Hadath channels on Sunday morning that the spokesperson for the Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, known as "Abu Obaida," was killed.
The Palestinian source confirmed the news that Israel targeted an apartment in Gaza City, northern Gaza Strip, where Abu Obaida was located, adding that the airstrike killed everyone inside.
According to Al Arabiya and Al Hadath channels, members of Abu Obeida's family and Al-Qassam Brigades leaders confirmed his death after examining the body.
Despite all the reports by the Israeli army and Hebrew media, Hamas has not shared any comment regarding Israel's allegations that it killed its spokesperson in Gaza, Abu Obaida.
The Israeli military said it, in cooperation with the Shin Bet, targeted a key Hamas operative on the outskirts of Gaza City, north of the Strip, targeting the Al-Qassam Brigades spokesperson Abu Obeida.
Israeli Army Radio reported the attack on Gaza City targeted Abu Obeida, spokesman for the Al-Qassam Brigades, but his fate is still unknown.
Israel Hayom newspaper quoted a senior Israeli source as saying, "Abu Obeida cannot survive this time if he was actually in the targeted location."
The IDF spokesperson and the Shin Bet spokesperson said about the attack in the Rimal neighborhood: "The IDF and the Shin Bet, using an air force aircraft, targeted one of the key elements of the Hamas "terrorist organization" in the vicinity of Gaza City, in the northern Gaza Strip."
The army statement added: "Prior to the attack, numerous steps were taken to minimize the possibility of harming civilians, including the use of precision munitions, aerial surveillance, and additional intelligence. 'Terrorist organizations' in the Gaza Strip continue to systematically violate international law by brutally exploiting civilian institutions and the civilian population as human shields to carry out 'terrorist acts'."
