The Israeli news site Ynet reported that a Palestinian gunman near the Tapuach (Zaatara) checkpoint in southern Nablus opened fire at an Israeli police officer, hitting him in the leg.

The man's family later identified the man as Alaa Muhammad Awad Audah, 30, from the town of Huwwara south of Nablus.
