Palestinian prisoners and detainees in Israeli jails plan to go on an open hunger strike early in May in protest against Israeli policies that is using them as a bargaining ship, Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) said.
Quoting Palestinian Radio Thursday, KUNA added that 70 inmates would take part in the hunger strike with the number rising in later phases to include all 3000 prisoners in four jails.
According to Sharm-el-Sheikh memorandum of understanding between Israel and the Palestinian national authority, Israel was to set free all Palestinian prisoners in different phases, but Israeli authorities have released only 450 Palestinians in two batches in addition to 15 inmates freed on the occasion of Eid al-Adha – Albawaba.com
