Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas expressed Tuesday his support to a technocrat government for a specific time in order to overcome the current crisis.

Speaking to journalists in the Presidential HQ in Ramallah city, Abbas asserted the necessity to continue the national dialogue to form a national government or a technocrat one so as to end international siege imposed on the Palestinian people. He also expressed his ultimate refusal for a civil war, saying that it is a red line and it is not acceptable.

Abbas has also hinted he would sack the Hamas-led government and said talks on forming a unity coalition with the Hamas were dead over its refusal to soften its stance toward Israel. "In the near future we need to reach options that will allow us to get out of this crisis as soon as possible," said Abbas. "It is impossible to remain in this situation."
