Palestinians and Israeli negotiators are due to meet on Sunday for the first time since the collapse of the Camp David peace summit two days ago, an Israeli official said Thursday.
"Saeb Erekat and Oded Eran will meet on Sunday to discuss various issues," said Gilad Sher, a member of the Israeli team at Camp David, referring to two leading Palestinian and Israeli negotiators.
The two sides face a September 13th deadline to reach a final peace accord on the most intractable issues at the heart of their decades-old conflict.
"There was major progress at Camp David, particularly on the issue of Palestinian refugees, so we must keep negotiating," Sher told Israeli radio.
He did not specify what issues the two men would discuss, although before the Camp David summit they were involved in interim issues such as the fate of Palestinian prisoners and a further promised Israeli West Bank land transfer outlined under the 1993 Oslo peace accords.
The US-hosted summit broke down after 15 days of intense negotiations over the fate of Jerusalem, the city coveted by both Israel and the Palestinians as their capital - OCCUPIED JERUSALEM (AFP)
