Palestinian security sources reported that Palestinian Authority police have arrested three suspected Islamic Jihad militants in Gaza on Saturday. This move came after a radical group member was killed Friday in an attack against Israeli troops, according to Tel-Aviv based HaAretz.

According to the Palestinian sources, the three were detained and the police confiscated their weapons along with some anti-tank rockets, Kalashnikov assault rifles and other ammunition.

In addition, HaAretz reported that the Security sources stated that they have also begun harsh steps against militants. These measures took the form of arrests, closing mortar producing workshops, charging and sentencing several detainees and “cleaning up” Gaza Strip mosques of inciting materials hung on walls and signed by Hamas and Islamic Jihad.

Meanwhile, in the Jabalya Refugee camp, mourners shouted “Death to Sharon” as Islamic Jihad activist, Mahmoud Al-Bore’i, was buried Saturday. Al-Bore’i was killed Thursday in the Gaza strip apparently when a bomb strapped to his body accidentally exploded.
